Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris was born on October 20, 1964. She is an American politician. She is also the first female vice president and highest-ranking female official of U.S. History, as well the first African American and second Asian American vice president. A member of Democratic Party, she has previously served as the attorney general of California from 2011 until 2017 and was the state's attorney general from 2011 to 2017 and as a United States senator representing California until 2021. Harris was born in Oakland, California, Harris graduated from Howard University and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. After starting her career as an Alameda County District Attorney, Harris was enlisted to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. Then she was appointed the City Attorney of San Francisco. In 2003 she was elected San Francisco District Attorney. In 2010 Harris was elected Attorney General of California. Harris was elected again in 2014. Harris was the United States junior senator from California from 2017 until 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez to become the first African American woman senator and the first South Asian American ever to be elected to the United States Senate. As senator, she fought for healthcare reform, federal de-scheduling of cannabis, a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants as well as the DREAM Act, a ban of assault weapons and progressive tax reform. Her most well-known accomplishments are her pointed questions of Trump administration officials in Senate hearings.
